Nikon 18-200 VR II, One Of The Very Good, All Objective, Walkabout Lenses
Beauty is within the eye of the beholder and for that reason, I think, is one’s opinion of a camera lens. I’ve learned over the years that lens reviews are usually helpful, but they tend to be just opinions. Yes, definitely, you generally get better optics with higher priced lenses, but it’s definitely not a guarantee. And for reasons it’s possible to only wonder about, oftentimes two copies belonging to the Nikon 18-200mm VR II will produce varies greatly results. For example, my buddy Sara, who is as loco about buying (we’re for instance compulsive buyers) and making use of Canon lenses as we are about buying and using Nikon ones, has a Canon EF-S 18-55mm package lens that produces photos so tack sharp by its whole range that would make you cry.
and so it goes with tremendous zooms, these wonderful lenses that go from pretty wide to extended. If you look for the reviews of any of which, some people claim unpleasant results, while others nothing their heads, because these are just loving them to be able to death.
Don’t spend more than you have to! We already done the research for you. Please CLICK HERE where to buy Nikon 18-200mm VR II.
My first superzoom seemed to be a Sigma 18-200 i got about five prohibited and I was blown away with what I could do with only 1 lens. Plus my pictures were pretty darn sharp. The lens was higher end then, than it is now. It’s still a fine lens, it weighs a couple ounces only a pound and if I only happens to be satisfied, I’d have stored a bundle of income. Ah well. Anyway, I had an opportunity to try out the Tamron 18-200 at the same time back then, but I decided on the Sigma. It was a coin toss. at that time I thought both lenses can be good general, all function, walkabout lenses. They could not be as sharp or maybe fast as primes plus wouldn’t be as mild as shorter zooms, although heck, one lens which went up from 18 to 200mm (okay 27 to 350mm from the real world), such a deal.
Both lenses were five star lenses as long as I was concerned, the two still are, because they may be what they are, a decent compromise. If you’re expecting a lens that could reach out across any dark night and get a shot of lovers making out by the beach, then you don’t want these lenses, but you’re searching for a good general walkabout contact, both will suit you and so they won’t break your bank.
But they don’t have image stabilization so when Sigma came out from it, I had to go. So I shelved the Sigma zoom thought about, (thankfully I didn’t promote it) and bought the actual Sigma 18-200 OS as well as Sigma’s Optical Stabilizer toiled great. I got clearer handheld shots in lower light, but they came in the price, almost half your pound. It doesn’t seem like much, eight ounces (7. 6 that they are exact), but try carrying the item around on your shoulder all day long. I really noticed your difference, especially when i used to be shooting.
I probably wouldn’t have gone to that auction site together with my fairly new lens, if it hadn’t also been for Tamron. They came out using Tamron 18-250 and I required it. A bigger arrive at, the heck with photo stabilization. Not only could I go all the way from 27 to 375mm while in the real world, but i bought back a bit over six ounces, the contact lens was lighter. So now i’d two super zooms, that was good, because I continue people shooting with my sister a whole lot.
So one would think I’d be satisfied, but when the Nikon 18-200 came out and about, well Nikon optics from a superzoom. I had to obtain it, so the Tamron travelled up for auction (because i just loved the Sigma, even though it didn’t reach as far). the particular Nikon lens focused quicker, but not that much faster then the other a couple, had image stabilization and was faster on the long end and that took great shots, but it weighed more than another lenses, coming in at the whopping 20 ounces and yes it was creepy, creepy, creepy adequate no zoom lock. the opposite lenses had almost no zoom creep and in addition they had a zoom freeze, which I never employed. Very annoying the soar creep was, still, great shots originating from a great lens.
Satisfied, nicely for awhile, then came 2008 along with the Tamron 18-270 with his or her VC version of image stabilization and up for auction went our expensive Nikkor lens. really, I still hung around the my first super the lens quality, the Sigma. For convinced the Nikkor was some sort of five star lens, but a woman can’t justify more as compared with two super zooms at a single time.
The Tamron lens really weighed a fraction below the Nikkor it exchanged. It was a bit slower to the long end, was somewhat stiff in the zooming, but easy to get accustomed to and almost no, at times no, zoom creep and it has a lock. It’s just simply one heck of any lens. Sometimes it’s rather slow to autofocus in lowlight, but still i believe it finds its focus faster than i’d, but not as fast as the Nikkor.
I should bring here that Nikon provides upgraded their 18-200 including a zoom lock. I’ve played with one and not have only they added that zoom lock, but it doesn’t appear to creep nearly as a lot, but that could you have to be the copy I utilised. I should also discuss that Sigma has emerge with their Sigma 18-250 OS that we was lucky enough to use for a month. that is definitely just one super very good lens. It focuses fast and i think it finds its center better in low light versus the Tamron 18-270. Also this new Sigma features a super quiet motor, though I’ve never really been bothered through the sound of a highlighting lens.
By reading other reviews of the lenses, I’ve learned that they’re all subject to the lens quality creep, so I suppose in the main, I’ve been lucky. all of these lenses are very fine, at least all of the copies I’ve used. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend any analysts. However, if you choose Nikon, you’re going to be paying an awful lot more. You get a slightly faster lens within the long end and you obtain Nikon quality, but Sigma and Tamron give quality too and Tamron warranties their own lenses for six many years, so they’re pretty confident that they’re building a great supplement (and now they’re part of Sony).
So through my personal whole super zoom experience, which one do I finish up using the most? you guessed it, that Sigma i purchased five years ago. just like the proverbial Timax, “It uses a lickin’ and maintains on tickin’. ” when the day is bright and also I’m going people shooting it is the one I put about my camera, because it truly is light and it’s pictures are true.
